Ever since the closure of the Glenfarg Hotel three years ago, the village has lacked a place for all to meet informally and socialise. The creation of a community centre could be such a place It could also offer space for clubs for the young and old alike and perhaps shared office accommodation as well.
The Village Hall has now successfully raised the money to purchase the former Schoolhouse that adjoins the hall. The money for the acquisition will come from the Scottish Land Fund and RWE Innogy (the windfarm at Lochelbank).
An open day will be held to which all will be invited. There will be an opportunity to visit the Schoolhouse and share ideas as to how it might best be brought into use for the benefit of the whole community. The date for this will be advised.
This is an exciting opportunity for our village! We hope that everyone will wish to give their help and support as the project moves forward. There will be plenty of opportunities for groups and individuals to lend a hand to make this a success - and to make a big difference to Glenfarg.
